Basically backgounds

Hi all - well, still snowy here but not snowing, so that's good! A couple of cards today using Sheena Douglass current 4 day deal stamps and featuring 2 different background techniques.

Firstly Be Happy - the background is a caught in crystal technique using tissue paper, Luminarte pourables, Adirondack pitch black, acetate and Klear floor polish. The tissue is coloured with pourables and a little extra glitter  When dry stamped front and back with flowers . The tissue was then laid, face down on acetate and the back of the tissue then liberally coated in clear floor polish and left to dry. Once dry it was trimmed and backed onto silver foil paper. The card is finished by stamping a sentiment  and flowers with black stazon on the acetate which were then highlighted with a white gel pen. The card was finished  with a  flower coloured with Spectrum Noirs on Neenah and a border added using a micron pen.

The second card is made using Centura pearl paper, distress inks - Luminarte shimmer mists and anything I had to hand really - white acrylic paint, a bit of flitter glue and metallic flake and a sequin waste stencil. The paper is covered with distress ink and then spritzed with water and Luminarte spray - when the texture is as you like it blot with kitchen roll and dry. I then stencilled through the sequin waste with more distress ink and used the rain drips with flitter glue and foil flakes.

A 6 x 6 square was then cut for the background and edged using more distress ink and a second, smaller square used for the topper which has a sentiment stamped and then the whole thing is covered with clear embossing powder. The mats for both are copper coloured mirri - just to ring the changes.

Enjoy the four day deal which is also featuring fantasy paints from Pebeo.

Just an old softie! Sneaky Peek Day 3

Good morning folks
Wow - well yesterday's cards got featured on Crafter's Companions FB page and my blog has rarely had so many visitors - so thank-you xx (had I known I'd have tidied up a bit LOL!)

So tomorrow's the day . BIG smiles all round!! The times of Sheena's shows are

Monday 21st Jan 8 a.m. 1p.m. and 5 p.m.
Tuesday 22nd Jan 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.
Wednesday 23 Jan 8 a.m. 11 a.m. 2 p.m. and 6 p.m.
Thursday 24 Jan 8 a.m. 2 p.m. and 5 p.m.

if , of course, they last that long! It is definitely worth having a look at Sheena's blog too as Goph has been posting like a good un.

Today I have gone all sentimental ( not like me at all) and today's picks are full of heart!

The heart stamp on one of the plates has been easily turned into a balloon - making a clean and simple card. The second is blingtastic :-) : Loads of Luminarte !!!!

Hope you approve. Thanks for stopping by and thank you for your comments . Keep warm xxx

Just because you make me smile

Good morning: 2 more sneak peeks of Sheena's new stamps launching on the 4 Day Deal on Create and Craft  on Monday ( times of shows are on yesterdays's post.) This is  of course if the weather permits Sheena to get to Peterborough of course!

Today I have decided on flowers and a great sentiment : "You make me smile." Fab for so many just because cards. The first one is paper piecing and the second made using Spectrum Noirs.

The stamps really are very versatile

Snow, snow, snow snow, snow!!

Hi all,

Well London has snow and I am in the fortunate position of being able to sit and blog whilst looking out of the window and thinking "ahh, pretty!" Just hope the postie manages to get the samples through to Sheena for the upcoming 4 Day Deal starting on Monday 21st on Create and Craft and Sheena manages to get to the studios cos the new stamps are lush!

There are 4 plates  and all are gorgeous! Without further ado here are a couple of pics to wet your appetite!  I thought I'd go bright and cheerful: The background are made using Luminarte pourables and mists and are oh so shimmery in real life!

The paper on the second card is made using shaving foam and shimmer mists - my new favourite technique! I don't know whether there is a proper way to do it but what I did was spray a layer of shaving foam onto a plastic lid - spritz with mists and swirl it about a bit and then lay a sheet of paper on top and take a "print". When I peeled it off I then used kitchen towel to wipe of the excess foam. Really fun and the clean up was quick as it all rinsed down the sink!

The floral stamps and words mix and match beautifully!

The show times for the 4 day deal are

Monday 21st Jan 8 a.m. 1p.m. and 5 p.m.
Tuesday 22nd Jan 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.
Wednesday 23 Jan 8 a.m. 11 a.m. 2 p.m. and 6 p.m.
Thursday 24 Jan 8 a.m. 2 p.m. and 5 p.m.

if , of course, they last that long!

Stay safe and warm - more sneaky peeks tomorrow xxx
