Sneak peek - mixed media and wor Sheena :-)

Well, afternoon all!

What a difference a day makes - gone are yesterday's blue skies and grey and rainy is the order of the day. Hey ho at least there is no excuse for not getting on with the cards for the craft fair on Saturday.

If you live locally the Spring Craft Fair is at Holy Cross Church Hall, Adela Avenue Motspur Park from 2 - 5 p.m.  I have been before as a supporter and spent far to much money  with the talented folks who were there then.

But, onto the main purpose of this post - to share a mixed media canvas  made with Sheena's Paint Fusion Stamps and the Pebeo Acrylics and Mediums.

The whole canvas
The background was stippled and then the lilacs done with the heavy body white and the colour pounced in with the end of a palette knife. The lilac leaves were painted paint fusion style. The bark is more mat texture medium and Pebeo gilding was with a wash.  The ivy is moulded using the PF stamp and half and half heavy body white and matt medium. The bird and swirls are a stencil.

Close up of lilac
Finally for those not interested in canvases the paints work brilliantly on cards too. A simple strip of colours topped with Sheena's paint fusion poppy stamp that has been embossed in black onto white card!

If you have enjoyed these please pop along to my fellow design team members who have some amazing and different samples to share

So finally show times are 8 p.m. and 2 p.m. tomorrow on Create and Craft - see you for breakfast ;-)

Sheena shows on CC This Thursday

Just changed my "Morning All" greeting to "afternoon"...where'd the day go? Not mentioning a whole week!!

Anyhow just thought that I would dash off a quick post about Sheena's shows on Thursday ( that'll be the day after tomorrow then!!) on Create and Craft at 8 a.m. and 2 p.m.  The show will feature mixed media and some well know paint fusion stamps - I have to say I really enjoyed making the samples.

A couple of offerings today; the first was a large cork board  prettied up with a bowl of paint fusioned flowers... then I set about prettying up the pins using the daisy stamp printed on acetate and painted using the new acrylic paints

and the roses - some direct on cork and some on acetate
A close up of the daisy pins.

The second sample is an 8 x 8 canvas using the sunflowers and acrylics which was fun. The words are a few random rub ins that I found in the stash.

I have my very first craft fair this Saturday - it is a local one but boy, am I nervous... more on that and another sneak peek tomorrow. Till then enjoy the sunshine..I hear the weather is going to change tomorrow!!

Faux Gelli Plate - Photo how to..

Well, afternoon all

Thanks for the comments here and on facebook about yesterday's card . As promised today's post will be a "photo how to.." to achieve this result. Trust me it is straightforward :-).

You will need:
One unloved tan embossing mat
A brayer
Stamp of choice and rocker block
Mixing palette
Spray bottle of water
Paper
Primary elements and the powder binder*
Water

I have found that the key to this technique is  to work fairly quickly and to get the consistency  of the paint right.  It is worth getting everything ready as you will want to work quickly once the paint is mixed.

Using the bigger end of the scoop in the Primary Elements kit  measure out roughly half a scoop of pigment to a generous scoop of binder and add about 9 drops of water  - mix well to a syrupy consistency.

Lightly and evenly spritz a bit of paper with water and leave it to one side whilst you drop paint on mat and spread it out using brayer.

Stamp into "paint" firmly and cover with paper, spritzed side down.

2 quick light but firm passes of brayer and peel away immediately and done!

And finally add a light coat of spray and shine to seal it.

As you can see I road tested this several times hence the different colours in the pics ;-)! Spritzing the paper with water and getting the consistency of the paint right will ensure that the paper peels off easily. However if it does stick ( and a couple of mine did initially) just rinse the mat with water to clean it and start again!!

*The powder binder in the primary elements kit is gum arabic powder which is widely available.

Don't forget to watch Sheena's shows tomorrow on Create and Craft at 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. Have fun playing :-)

Faux Gelli fun

Hi y'all

I've been left to my own devices again and that is always dangerous!  Sheena has a couple of shows on Create and Craft this Thursday at 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. and I decided to have a play...

Now I really want a gelli plate but it is on the wish list ( and a fair way down...) so I was looking around to see what else I had that I could adapt. I happened to glance at an old tan embossing mat and a brayer....ah hah!

Here is the resulting card  made using the glorious Gothic arches. It is printed using primary elements and the powder binder that is in the kits. I rather like the end result; the detail of the original stamp is retained.- it reminds me of an old lino print. Another plus is that clean up is very easy because the products are water based .

Once the impression was transferred to paper it was sealed with a quick spritz of spray and shine :-).

I am hoping  it might make it to a  Sheena show demo on Thursday  - I will endeavour to do a picture tutorial on the blog tomorrow.

Have a great afternoon

On the subject of  things fantastical Sheena has 2  shows tomorrow at 8 a.m. and 11 a.m. Stamping Sheena Style ( Why can't I type that without the vision of Sheena and a Gangnam Style dance coming into my head???) The shows are the rescheduled ones using the fantasy fusion paints and fantasy florals.

I do like this sample - OK I know orange not everyone's cup of tea but it makes me smile every time I see it!

Feel the love and have a great day!

This is my 100th post and my final sneak peek of the week.

wow - who'd have thought I'd keep it up that long!!!

How  unsurprising then that my first post in May 2011 and this one  both feature Sheena Douglass and constant inspiration...

Amazingly my first post was also wall art - my first canvas ... it now hangs in my hall

But, back to today ... and my final sneak peek of yet more lusciousness from wor Sheena  - This canvas uses the gorgeous iridescent  paints on the acetate butterfly, the fab iris stamp  and features possibly my favourite colour in the set of pebeo paints - please take a bow number 55!!

Finally, if you've seen Sheena's facebook page you will have seen the  magnolia and mountains canvas. Below is my original where I was experimenting with using the texture medium and palette knife.

Enjoy the shows - I will be glued xxx

Just 2 more sleeps till Saturday!

Good morning!

First off news: Shows on Saturday are now 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. On the upside this means that Sheena will get home to Easter Eggs earlier that originally eggspected ( sorry!) but one less eggsciting show ( Booooo). Nonetheless I am sure that they will be eggstra special !!

OK today's sneaky peek... or two ...( what kind of rebel am I!!!!)  The first pick is a wall plaque made from an "oh so useful" £1.50 mirror from the Swedish Store and using one of the little coaster size hessian canvases. The silver in the new paints is fab  and that's what I used to stipple the outer frame. The image itself is created using titanium white acrylic paint mixed with the matt gel medium which will also be on the shows and contains NO stamping ( or eggs)!!! I am quite pleased with this new discovery :-)

With all the eggscitement of the wall art I also wanted to share a pic of a card made with the iris from Sheena's a little bit floral. The paints work beautifully on acetate and the iridescence is lush - Love it!!! So quick and easy.

Hope you like? Hope you are intrigued and hope you tune in to find out more! Did I mention that the shows are £10,000 Give away shows too??

Keep warm xxxx

Day 2 Sneak Peeks

Hello all

Have you seen Sheena's Facebook Page today - absolutely gorgeous landscape on there! I may share my one later - but love her version!!!:-) The show times on Easter Saturday are 11 a.m. 3 p.m. and 7 p.m.

Today I decided to go with a butterfly theme:

I chose this one as you can just see the fab iridescent  paint at work on the central butterfly which is made of acetate. I think it complemented Sheena's Magnolia branch beautifully. The texture paint makes stencilling a dream! Using canvas boards makes stamping SO much easier too.

The 20 x 20 cm canvas was then popped into an Ikea frame (£3.50 - bargain!) and the sentiment was stamped directly onto the glass - just for a change.

Hope you like? Looking forward to sharing more tomorrow

Do snowmen get Easter eggs?...

Morning all!

It's bleedin freezin ....thought I'd start with stating the obvious and get it over. Now ma leetel chums more news of Sheena and shows on Easter Saturday on Create and Craft. So far Create and Craft appear to be keeping the actual show times a closely guarded secret but as soon as they are posted I will post them here.

The Saturday shows are going to be a little different: Have you ever made/ received a card and thought that would look great framed ? Well, wor Sheena is going to help us make the little leap from cards to wall art!
She has managed to get some AMAZING paints from Pebeo and canvases. I have fallen in lurve with the Hessian ones!!!

I thought I would share one with you. This is a super easy one to create using acetate, Sheena's Lily stamp from the little bit florals and the lush new paints and gel mediums.  The liles were created by stamping in black stazon on acetate then applying paint - none too carefully to the reverse. They are then cut out and stuck on using Collall - simples. Really :-) In fact trying to photograph this 12 x 12 canvas was far more challenging than making it!! The frame is  from that well known Swedish store and a bargain £9.00 - it is HUGE!

 and a close up

I really like the end result and hope that you do too... more sneaky peeks tomoz... In the meantime why not click here and check out Sheena's blog?

Keep warm

Sheena? On a Saturday? Are you sure???

Hello ma leetle chums!

I am absolutely sure that wor Sheena is on Create and Craft THIS Saturday ( That'll be tomorrow then!) at 9 a.m. 12p.m. and 3 p.m. How brill is that?

She has the fantasy paints  and the recent 4 day deal stamps with, I am told, another great offer on them. Good thing too as they sell out!

So I had a play to see if I could combine the two and here are the results:

First a plaque - I have realised on blogging that I photographed these BEFORE the final tweaking.. DOH! I added some crystal lacquer to the "mosaic" to make them into cabochons and a bit more distress ink to the right hand side - bit you get the idea!! The flowers and leaves were done on acetate then cut out when dry.

The second sample is a mirror - from that well known Swedish store....
The dots were added by ensuring that the border paint had dried for 24 hours first..

Enjoy the shows or set your recorder.., they are bound to be crammed full of hints. tips and techniques
